Discover Inner Peace Through Mindfulness

What is Distraction? Well, by definition, it is something that prevents us from giving our full attention to something else. An interruption, diversion, disturbance, interference - any of the above. Why am I asking? I am asking because I want to bring some attention to this completely unproductive mindset. Many spend every day in a state of distraction and divided attention! Distractions are abundant and always present. Some days my personal ability to focus is better than others. Life itself can inhibit our ability to focus on things we may consider to be important! Such things may not be necessary to the productivity of every day life, but may be beneficial to our overall well being and peace of mind. For example, here I am writing about distraction after months of abandoning my ability to thoughtfully express myself - at the dramatic excuse of LIFE! We make time for the things we care about, right? So many of us put off for tomorrow what we can accomplish today. I am obviously not an exception to this. We say we will meditate to feed our soul. We will ground to remain connected and energized. We will take our vitamins and feed our bodies the nutritious foods that will aid in our overall health. We will exercise to keep our bodies strong and mobile. We will read that book to retain knowledge of something that's important to us. We'll make time for that self care appointment that we long for, yet keep putting off. How many of us make resolutions or promises to ourselves and let "life" deter our progress? Some may blame time. We all have the same illusionary amount of time in a day! Some may blame exhaustion. In this case, I would argue that the actual reason would belong to not truly having the desire to do the things we say we intend to do! What we aren't changing, we are choosing. All it takes is a little effort and re-programming. Start doing things differently and we will begin to relish in new results! Every time we excuse ourselves with some form of a distraction, we are patting down a stagnant pathway. No one is ever truly happy in a state of stagnancy. We may be fooling ourselves by labeling it calm, convenient and maybe even comfortable. That may hold us over for a bit, but not a lifetime. That being said, I have yet to meet a truly happy person who's not doing the things that they claim with intention while being inspired under the influence of source. It is when we push through the obstacles that we claim as distraction or as "Life" that we finally begin to evolve into who we desire to be - our true and authentic selves living in joy!! Even if we make the decision to start with dedicating as little as 5 minutes a day to a new habit or evolved desire that we believe will be beneficial to ourselves and anyone around us! Baby steps are still steps in the direction of our desires! I will challenge all of us to re-focus and stop allowing daily life to distract us completely or even moderately from our intentions! We have purpose. We are so much more than a "hampster on a wheel." No offense to those adorable little creatures, of course! Everything comes back to us. We deserve to be the best versions of ourselves here and now! Now is all we have! Make the most of everything that truly matters NOW! Let the inspiration flow. Enjoy being you without distraction, because you are magical! Show up for yoursef without distraction because you deserve to! Let the intention within pour without so it may water the seeds of your internal desire until they grow into your external reality! Love, Be Love and Be Loved!
